Annual Calendar Post, 2019 Calendar Edition!

This is pretty late to be doing the calendar post. “Better late than never” is an iffy sort of claim when shipping deadlines are looming nigh and supplies are looming low. (To speed things up, let me just say one time that all images are from Amazon.com.)

A F*cking 2019 Calendar. I’m not saying this is a contender for my house, but I’d think it was funny if it was at your house.

Linnea Poster calendar. This is so pretty. I need boxes on my calendar, but this would be a contender if I didn’t.

Bob Ross calendar. I had this next to my desk in 2018 and I recommend it. Soothing.

Pusheen calendar. Our entire household loves Pusheen. If you give the calendar as a gift, I recommend including the book.

Sloth calendar. Sloths are having a moment, along with cactuses/succulents and alpacas/llamas.

Llama calendar.

Succulents calendar.

Fortnite calendar. Fortnite is, I gather, a popular game.

Farmer’s Market calendar. I mention this one almost every year, I think, but it’s just such a pleasing one.

Farmer’s Market calendar, option two. I really like the look of this one, too, and it avoids repeating a calendar.

SheSheds calendar. Get it, gurl.

Cooking with Love Provides Food for the Soul calendar. I dislike the title. But I really like the individual pages, which are prettily-done recipes, chalkboard-style.

Norman Rockwell calendar. I find Norman Rockwell persistently soothing.

We Rate Dogs calendar. I ordered the page-a-day version already.

National Parks calendar. Another one that would appeal to me if I didn’t need boxes to write in.

Unlikely Friendships calendar. If you don’t want to see a bull terrier snuggling with a baby cow, I don’t know WHAT would please you.

Victoriana calendar. I am in the mood this year for pretty things, and also I think this would look nice in our new old house.

Fractal Cosmos calendar. I can imagine getting kind of transfixed by these.

Nature’s Dick Pics calendar. Isn’t this just what we’ve come to expect?

Bubble Wrap calendar. One bubble to pop per day.

Fire Rescue Dogs calendar. Oh, dogs! I love dogs. What cute dogs. So many pages of lovely, lovely dogs.

Kilty Pleasures calendar. And kilts! I love kilts. So traditional. All those plaids.

Retro Pin-Ups calendar. Pin-ups: an historical screenshot of another time. Valuable and educational.

Retro calendar. Gumball machine, rotary-dial phone, jukebox, record player, etc.

Cats calendar. It’s rare for us not to have at least one cat calendar in the house. Note that if you are a fan of the Cats in Sweaters calendar, as we are, a reviewer mentions that some of the 2019 images are repeats. This is no big deal if you’ve skipped a year or two, but it’s the sort of thing I’d definitely want to check for.

Baby Animals in Sweaters calendar. I could just die. Baby animals. In sweaters.

Doughnuts calendar. There is a calendar designer out there who knows my heart.

BTS calendar. BTS fans, I gotcha. This appears to come with stickers and photo cards.

American Travel calendar. I think this is stunning. Plus it has extra-large pages with more writing room.

Pantone calendar. Strong contender for this year.

William Morris calendar. Twice I’ve had wallpaper-designs calendars and found them very pleasing. I searched for one this year, but this was the only thing that seemed close. It’s pretty good. I had a William Morris mug that got broken in the move.

Unicorn Yoga calendar. Presented without further comment.

Gudetama the Lazy Egg calendar. I don’t know what it is I am looking at.

Masha D’yans calendar. I had this one last year and I liked it. Very pretty.

Fiercely Female calendar. If this had squares to write in, it would be my kitchen calendar this year. It might be my desk calendar; I don’t need to write as many things on that.

The Future is Female calendar. Again: I need squares to write in. If I am going to note the place and time of the resistance march, I need SQUARES TO WRITE IN.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg calendar. Does it have squares to write in? WE DO NOT KNOW. (Follow up: this listing shows that it does.) (The RGB Workout calendar also has squares.)

Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls calendar. And what do we have here? SPACES TO WRITE IN. Into the cart!

Serenity calendar. Serenity, gosh, that sounds nice.

Her Majesty the Queen calendar. There is something soothing to me about the queen and her hats.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle calendar. Of course we are all considering the Harry/Meghan calendar. (I feel upon proof-reading as if this sounds sarcastic, but I am in earnest. They make me feel happier, looking at them.)

Latte Art calendar. You should see me choke up when the barista puts a picture on the top of my coffee. It fills me with feelings about how human beings can be so GOOD and so CREATIVE, putting art everywhere for no practical reason at all except that we CAN and we LIKE TO.

Hedgehogs calendar. My niece loves hedgehogs, so now we all love hedgehogs.

As usual, if you still use paper calendars I would love to know which ones you’re using next year.

One of my favourite (living) artists is a Welsh guy called Bryan Evans. He’s lived in Scotland for years and paints gorgeous pictures of the place – not necessarily the “famous” things, but more the “everyday” things. I’ve already given my Dad and cousin prints of his, and this year I’ve bought this calendar for my ex-Mother-in-Law (the gift is not, technically, from me, given that I’m separated from her son and that she and I have always loathed each other, but rather from my daughters). It arrived today and is a little bigger than I imagined, but there are BOXES for WRITING STUFF IN!

I like to display a calendar in my kitchen which is more of a decoration than anything else (no squares, not meant to be written in), though I do find myself checking it quite often for the date. It’s a calendar that has a single page to display in an acrylic box, and you swap the page out each month. The images are all done by a Maine artist (Dana Heacock), are so wonderfully bright and cheery, and are new each year (no repeats). https://abacusgallery.com/products/2019-wall-calendar

I bought the Future is Female calendar a couple of months ago even though it doesn’t have squares, because I liked it SO MUCH that I figured I could just write NEAR the numbers and that would be enough. I can’t wait to put it up!

Mostly I am using my saved 2013 calendars, because I can! I will buy a new spiral bound engagement calendar( Audubon or Sierra Club), as that’s where all the writing happens. The free calendar from the bank will hang in the basement for tracking filter changes and softener salt usage. The free one from the co-op will be in the shop for equipment hours, etc. I do enjoy my calendars! Happy Holidaze!

    I love the calendar post!
That first one is currently sitting wrapped under our tree for my husband’s office. :)
We’re doing Frida Kahlo for the kitchen (for the second year in a row) and I’m still deciding on my office calendar – many of my past favorites seem to be having bunk years. I’m off to study this post more in depth to see if something new will catch my eye!

Just popped in to say sloths are awesome. If you are having a bad day, search for “Planet Earth II sloth swimming” and watch the video. It’s been my go-to pick-me-up since last spring.

I have been using calendars with gorgeous travel photos by Art Wolfe for the past few years.
Next year I am using a Chihuly calendar (innovative glass art) because we visited his museum/studio in Seattle and I loved it.

Art Wolfe is a great nature/travel photographer – he has some good courses on Creative Live. I’ve always thought it was a crazy coincidence that that’s his name, given his subject matter…

Yay! The calendar post! And I already have one of them! Okay, it’s the Fortnite one because my son is obsessed, but I feel so CUTTING EDGE for having one of your recommendations!

I’ll be making family picture calendars for us, but the kids like their own calendars in their rooms to flip. Normally we wait until late January then hit up the Calendar Store pop-up that is closing down and grab the cutest ones we can find for $5 for the kids. We’ll probably still do that for my daughter since she doesn’t have a particular one she wants this year.

I submit that hedgehogs are also having a moment – am very tempted as they really are adorable. The baby animal one sounds good, but is too cat heavy for me. I’d want more variety in my types of baby animals stuffed into sweaters.

Having been a hedgehog lover for YEARS, I think the hedgehog moment is beginning to pass and it makes me so sad because it was lovely to be able to get hedgehog stuff so easily.

I had to go ahead and get our office calendars before you posted (I figured with your move you might not get to the calendar post at all – way to exceed expectations!) but here are a couple of standouts from what I got. My employee who said, “Surprise me” got https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1935694316/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And my cat-loving guy got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1631065262/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s09?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I love this post every year. Last year I picked up the Sandra Boyton Mom’s Family Wall Calendar and we used it consistently all year. Everyone loves it, especially my small boys (7, 3) who utilize the stickers. My 7 year old looks at it often to see what’s going on with the family. It was the first year we tried a family calendar so I was very pleased it worked so well. We currently use the 5 columns for the 4 family members and one for “Family” that usually has weekend plans written in. In 2019 we are expecting a 5th family member, but I think her appointments can probably be written into my column.

If I wasn’t getting this calendar I would be getting Bob Ross. The page-a-day version is very tempting for my desk at work though…

Yep, I get that one every year. Family of 7 means that we don’t all get our own columns, but it’s the closest I’ve ever gotten to one that can actually keep track of everybody. (Mom and Dad share a column, leaving 4 for 5 kids. I used to put the two youngest — both in preschool — in one column, but as of this fall, the college student got booted off. His stuff (if I need it — like travel home information) gets written in the space next to the number.)
      I LOVE that calendar.

Thank you for such a variety of options! I agree about the name of that chalkboard recipe one. “provides food for the soul?” So clunky! Why not “feeds”? (Though the whole title is too much like those old “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books…)

We’re going with the Charley Harper sticker calendar (not planning to use the stickers though). The pictures are amazing. I was a little dismayed that the size of the numbers takes up more space in the boxes than I would like, but I’m going with it.

I just got Wild and Scenic Wisconsin. It has pictures of some of my favorite spots so how could I not? It also has big squares which is a plus.

Who knew that finding a 2 year pocket calendar with plain white pages and squares could be so hard to find. I finally had to resort to amazon and order one. What happened to the days when you could pick one up at almost every checkout counter??

I always love your annual calendar post. This year it’s extra helpful as I’ve been notified of the need for a “Dirty Santa” gift at the last minute. There are multiple of these calendars that would fit the bill so an extra special thank you!

I love your yearly calendar posts. I look at the William Morris calendar every year and never get it. Maybe 2019 will be the year I do. Although that illustrated American Travel calendar is really gorgeous, too.

I got my 13 year old daughter the Doug the Pug calendar:

    https://www.amazon.com/Doug-2019-Wall-Calendar-Breed/dp/1682347907/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1545320097&sr=8-1&keywords=doug+the+pug+calendar+2019

And my 15 year old daughter is getting the hedgehog one you posted above. I think this is the 4th year we’ve gotten her that one.

I’m tempted by the USA travel ones you posted; not because I need a paper calendar, but because I think those images would be awesome framed and up on my wall!

I don’t use a calendar personally, but I buy my sister one each year for Xmas. This year I got her “lambies in jammies”. I do not know if it has squares or not. I hope so.
I also got my dad a one-a-day calendar of Jumble puzzles. Because he loves doing the Jumble in the paper.

I saw that Masha D’yans one in my local bookstore today while doing last minute Christmas shopping and nearly bought it. It is so pretty, but I was already overloaded with shopping and couldn’t face the thought of another awkwardly shaped purchase to carry home on the bus. Maybe it will still be there in the new year and on sale to boot.

Hahaha, I went immediately to Amazon and bought the first one on your list. Only then did I come back to read the rest of the list, and while there are some other great choices here I’m confident I bought the right one.

I don’t remember the exact name of my calendar and can’t go check because it’s at my house and I am currently traveling, but it’s Victorian-era posters for traveling circuses/magic shows/things of that nature. I got it in an art museum gift shop. I LOVE it, and it goes perfectly with the decor in my 200-year-old house.
