Old Glasses vs. New Glasses

Here is a picture of me wearing my old glasses. When I bought these glasses more than 8 years ago, almost all glasses were METAL and ROUND. It was hard to find a pair that was even OVAL.

Here’s a side view. Notice that these glasses don’t FIT ME: the earpiece goes way up into my hair instead of hooking over my ear. I noticed this after I’d bought them and it’s bugged me ever since.

Here is a picture of me wearing my new glasses. Now all glasses are PLASTIC and RECTANGULAR. It was hard to find a pair that didn’t bisect my undereye circles in an emphasizing way. I ended up with metal and rectangular. I think I could have gotten a better shot of them if I hadn’t been so concerned about de-emphasizing the underchin area.

Here is a side-view of the new glasses, which is pretty much why I bought them.

I’ve also ordered about ten pairs of cheaps from Zenni, so we’ll see if any of those turn out.

Oh, one thing I actually MISS about wearing glasses is shopping for new ones. It’s amazing the difference a new pair can make! I think the new ones make you look younger. I LOVE the design/shape.

I desperately need to order a pile of cheaps. I don’t wear my glasses often enough to worry about an everyday pair.

I can’t wait to see what else you got!!! I can’t decide which way to go.

    A few things:

-Love the new glasses! Especially the side view, too cute!
    -Cute earrings!
-You have a nice profile. I am envious. I have an ugly profile.

Love! The sides are really cute. I have some similar ones-they aren’t super trendy from the front, but the thicker side pieces make me feel like they are a little fun.

I love them! They’re super stylish and look great on you!

I’m so due for new glasses myself, I need to make an eye doctor appointment (and now that I have benefits again, I’m totally able to do this, woooo for employment!).

You look GREAT in those new glasses! Mine are also rectangular! Around here, they call them the “Palin” glasses….guess her glasses started the trend and now the rectangular style is in! ha ha

They look great! I need new glasses but can’t make a decision. I’ve tried looking at Zenni but there are just So. Many. Is overwhelming.

Shopping for glasses with my 12-year-old, who had already, grudgingly, picked out his new glasses:

    Me: How about these?
    He: They’re good.
    ~pause~
He: Are they just for wearing at home or would you wear them out?

So that’s a no then I take it!

Clinton and Stacey (are you with me?) say what you got is absolutely the best. Great job! Mine are similar only a deep red. ‘Cause I’m soooo adventurous.

Sweet, I like how they’re all “business in the front, partay on the sides!” without being overwhelming.
I need new glasses too – I wear contacts, but need glasses as a backup so maybe I’ll try one of those cheapy online places. Mostly everything I’ve tried on in stores looks bad, but could their florescent lighting BE any less flattering? (Especially when combined with my own undereye circles problem)

I love them! Do you find yourself surprised when you see your reflection? I love that about new glasses. The sides are so cool w/o being too in-your-face-trendy. Can’t wait to see the rest!

I really like the new style of glasses. They work well for you too. And that pattern is awesome! Makes me wish I needed glasses. :D My husband recently got a pair of the thick black plastic ones. I really like them.

Oh, I love them! I need new glasses too, but I hate picking them out. Well, and PAYING for them too.

Also, this is just fyi- did you know that you have pop-up ads now? I now of a few other bloggers that DIDN’T approve of these, but then had them, so now I’m all SKEPTICAL when I see them… like the advertisers are putting them up on the sly?

(They don’t bug me. Unless they are loud or something. The ones here aren’t loud).

Chez B.- Dove Deep Moisture SPF 15!

Marie G.- Do you know, I can’t remember? My first thought was “Hey, I said no to those!” but then I think maybe I’m thinking of the ones that do some other thingie I said no to. Ads are confusing.

Very cute specs. I always have trouble with glasses because my cheekbones are SO wide that they never fit across my dang face. I have some Native American in me, and it mainly shows up in the cheekbones.
I also really like your profile. Unlike mine, which showcases the spectacular bump in my nose.

Good for you. You bought glasses with cute, colored earpieces. You did NOT buy glasses with the brand name spelled out in rhinestones on the earpiece. You know, like I did. By accident. Turns out you’re supposed to turn your head from side to side in the store mirror when making a decision, or at least stay away from the Stripper Glasses! section. SIGH.

Hooray!!!! When I bought my glasses with turquoise swirls my mom totally thought I was crazy because they don’t “match” everything. I love them anyway! I bet you’ll love your fancy swirls too!

    LOVE!!!

I desperately need new specs but buying them is like getting my hair cut: I know that I need to do it, I **want** to do it, but every time I’m about to announce WHIMSY NEEDS TO BUY GLASSES NOW we’re suddenly facing Home Budget Cuts so I swallow it and wait. And then when it would be a good time to buy them? I TOTALLY FORGET ABOUT IT.
