Niece!

Oh my dears. Look what we have:

It is Niestle. Niecele. Niecstle. Niecestle. Niece-stle. Neestle. I guess Niestle is the best one. Perhaps I should have thought this out ahead of time, rather than making it part of the birth announcement. (Bethtastic gets credit for this nickname, which BLEW MY MIND with its wonderfulness.)

This is my niece. She is 19 inches long, and she weighs 7 pounds. She is so glorious, I am blinded. I had to use the little “home-row bumps” to find the right keys on my keyboard. Only through blurriness can I see her beautiful wahing mouth. Her tiny beautiful hands. Her lovely squinched eyes of indignation.

She was born on March 1st at 11:11 p.m., which is very tidy. I like her already.

If I’ve counted correctly, and it IS hard to count with blinded eyes of love, 14 of you guessed March 1st:

  1. Amy of WriteBrained
  2. Mimi of Mimi All Me
  3. Siera of Take me as I am
  4. Salgavin
  5. Fiona Picklebottom of Move Along – There’s Nothing to See Here
  6. Julie of Life is Good
  7. Saly of Incubation Nation
  8. Emily R of Righters’ Writings
  9. Tess
  10. Janet of From the Planet of Janet
  11. Sally of Kingston Duo
  12. Alison of Laugh Until Your Cheeks Hurt
  13. Stacy
  14. Jennifer of Guinea Pig Paperie

I used a Random Number Generator to choose a winner, and it chose #6: Julie of Life is Good. Email me (swistle at gmail dot com) with your mailing info, Julie, and I’m going to start putting things into a box!

Congratulations, Erik and Anna! Really nice work there!

That is one of my favorite “birth announcement” photos ever- it so perfectly captures how newborns must feel- I love her howling little mouth! She looks like she feels so… EVICTED from her formerly warm and quiet and dark and cozy home.

Are you close enough that you will get to see her in person?? I sure hope so!

Being an Aunt is the most amazing thing ever–one step away from being a grandparent, I think. Because you get to relive the wonderful things about babies and toddlers and children without ANY of the hassle! I wish I would have thought of this earlier, then I wouldn’t have had my own kids, I would have just enjoyed my nieces and nephews while still maintaining my body, life, reading addiction, etc. But, you know, wouldn’t trade mine or…ummm..anything. Enjoy being and Auntie, it is GREAT!
Plus, she’s ADORABLE! And ANGRY! And not going to be waking YOU up!

Oh, she looks JUST PERFECT. I love her perfectly shaped little head and the rip-roarin’ yell she’s letting the world have.

    Aww. So, so awesome.

    Welcome to the world, Niestle.

This made my follicles jump for joy.
I didn’t tell you, but I’ve named the follicles:
    Lolly and Ollie Follie.
    I need help.

Congrats! I love becoming an aunt. I have 3 nieces and 2 nephews. She is adorable! And she picked a great day to make her entrance into this world! My son was born on the 1st as well. April 1st.

Well. Look at that beautiful little screaming bundle. What an awesome picture!
Congratulations Swistle (and Erik and Anna, of course, plus the grandparents and cousins and uncle and everyone else who’s all wrapped up in that little girl!)!!!

    Simply awesome. Niestle.

(Thanks for the credit – I feel famous :)!)

She is SO DEAR. So sweet. She looks a little pissed, if you don’t mind my saying so, but I guess that’s natural.

Everyone is having babies, or talking about babies. I’m 27 now and all I really know is, I WANT ONE. Of my own. But being single and without even the slightest potential boyfriend, it seems unlikely. But I want a baby. A cute, squalling, needy bundle of perfection.

    Your niece is perfect.

It’s a BABY. Awesome. How I love babies.

You know what is great about being a children’s photographer? Total strangers PAY me to come to their house and play with their baby for an hour or two. It’s great. I just LOVE babies.

And, as someone who sees a lot, I can tell you that that one – Neestle? is particularly cute. :)

O happy day! I thought it would never arrive. I also never thought it would be this much fun, or that I’d love her so much so fast.
