Baby Girl Pitzner, Sister to Kinley

K. writes:

I am super anxious because I just found out this morning that I’m being induced tomorrow at 7am and my husband and I can’t agree on a name for our baby girl! We currently have a 2 year-old daughter named Kinley Reese (I just love her name). Our last name is Pitzner. I would like a name for our second daughter that is different but not too off the wall. I also don’t tend to like super girly names but rather tend to like unisex or even boy names for girls – Alex, Dylan, Devan, etc. My husband isn’t as much on board with that though! I just love the name Presley for a girl but he hates it! Some of the names on my list are: Ryan, Devan and Blakely. My husband has mentioned Kylie, Kamryn and Jessa. Please help!

I love the name Kinley and Reese is on our list for our second baby if it’s a girl! :)

I feel like our lists are similar in some ways and we have similar tastes! The names on your husband’s list aren’t really ones that I gravitate toward and I’m not sure they go as well with Kinley, although not terrible so. Cameron is great with Kinley in my opinion but just not a name I like very much. It might be a little too similar. I don’t personally like having sibling names start with the same sound, but that’s completely personal taste.

That being said, I will suggest Emmerson, which is my daughter’s name. I also love the names:

Kensington (too close to Kinley, I’m not sure? It seems like your husband would like two Ks?)
    Neve
    Parker
    Peyton
    Marley
    Sloane
    Simone

Good luck, mama! Wishing you all the best with your new baby girl!

I don’t have anything to add I’m afraid, but I love Parker from Bonnie’s suggestions. Kinley and Parker I think that’s super! Oh and it’s adorable with your last name.

All the best for tomorrow…how exciting! x

    Harper
    Marley
    Rowan
    Scout

I love Alex for a girl so much. Especially with the option of the long, classic, and feminine Alexandra. If he likes Jessa, would you both compromise on Alexa? I also knew of a girl named Desley (not sure how it was spelled) that she said was Australian. It was pronounced so that it rhymes with Presley, so not pronounced like Dezley, FYI.

What about Paisley or Delaney? Finley is too similar to Kinley but maybe Bellamy would appeal.

Oh boy. I was induced with only 15 hours notice as well. My thoughts are with you. Firstly, I think Kylie and kinley are too close for sister names. I feel like I don’t have much to go on, but here are some names.
    Isla
    Sienna
    Sadie
    Hollis
    Leighton
    Shea
    Quinn
    Riley

    Sage
Paisley (for a 1 syllable first name)

    Recommendations of my own:
    Josephine- nn Jo

    Harper Eden Pitzner
    Parker Simone Pitzner
    Marley Ellis Pitzner
    Parker Alex Pitzner

My friend is similar in style to you…

She loved the name Hadley, but that may be too close to Kinley. Maybe too sing songy. She did, however, use the name Paxton for her daughters name, and I think it’s an awesome fit with Kinley. Kinley and Paxton. Unisex, but you can dress it up a little with the middle name. Paxton Rose. Paxton Grace. Paxton Rae.

Lots of great suggestion. I notice that all the names on their lists have two syllables. So I’m thinking
    Jamie
    Rylie
    Sasha
    Shula
And for some weird reason Roxanne.

The name that just popped into my head is Dabney! I have a friend who just had a baby girl named Dabney, and I’d never heard it before. But on her it is just the sweetest! And I think Kinley and Dabney are a cute pair :) Good luck!

If he likes Kylie and you like unisex names, what about Kyle? He can always have a special nn for her and Kyle and Kinley sound super cute together!

More thoughts.. kind of all over the place, but they all have spunk!:
    Keelia
    Keagan
    Tessa
Preston (I guess that’s violates your non-boy’s name preference ..but I knew an adorable little girl with the name, and it’s close to Presley without the Elvis association, which might be nice?).
Bailey (maybe too similar to kinley?)
    Romily
    Matilda with the nn Mattie
    Haven
    Allegra
    Ramona
    Phoebe
    Cora/Coralyn/Corey
    Carrington nn Carrie?
    Lydia
Sydney (love the match stylistically, but not sure if it’s hard to say with Kinley?)
    Codie/Cody
    Heidi
    Darby
    Waverly
    Alden
    Farryn
    Terran/Taran/Terryn
    Ruby
    Wren

Hoping your induction goes well!! :) Can’t wait to hear what you pick ..Kinley Reece is such a beautiful name!

Perhaps a more feminine spelling of Ryan would help?
    Rhiann/Ryanne/Rianne, etc.

    Drew Allison Pitzner
    Kamryn Presley Pitzner
    Harper Presley Pitzner
    Presley Grace Pitzner
Samara Presley Pitzner (nn Sam)- Kinley and Samara, Kinley and Sam

    Presley Jessalyn Pitzner
    Samantha Kay Pitzner
    Sam Kylie Pitzner

Well I have to comment because I love the name Kinley. It is on my list should we have a third girl in the future.

My girls are Hadley and Presley and I obviously love -ley names for girls; as well as unisex/surnames/boys names for girls.

I am biased but I would love to see you name your second dd Presley.

I love the suggestion of Emerson from a pp.

Others ( some have already been suggested)
    Addison
    Anniston
    Aspen
    Avery
    Berkley

Perhaps a compromise would be a feminine name with a unisex nickname? Corinne or Cora or Coralie nn Cory. Charlotte nn Charlie. Lorelei nn Rory. Alexandra nn Alex. Antonia nn Toni. Samantha nn Sam. Josephine nn Joey. Jessamyn nn Jessie.

I love unisex girl names! But alas our choice for a boy was Cameron. Here were my top choices:

    Sloane
    Ryan
    Devan
    Quinn
    Rowan
    Reagan
    Peyton
    Scout (Scarlett)
    Taylor

Best wishes for your labor and delivery!

I will add the 23rd vote for Sloane. Kinley and Sloane. SOO cute.

Also love Harper. What about Harlan? Ellery? Ellis? Emerson?

It’s too bad your husband doesn’t like Presley, because I also love that name.

What about Rooney? (like Rooney Mara – so is female name, but is very spunky!)

Sigh, I love “W” names! I love the above suggestion of Winslow. OR Would your husband be on board with Willa? It’s definitely a female name, but the look of it, being so close to William or Will, maybe will speak to you and your love for unisex-ish names?

    Good luck!

If you do an ends-in-r name, I like single syllable ones otherwise it sounds a little singsongy to me (maybe only me). But I like the gentle alliteration of say, Blair or Greer.

I also think Kyra could sound great, especially since Ky (or Kai) sounds unisex/masculine to me…

    Good luck!!!

Mackenzie could be a good choice; your husband could use the nickname Kenzie if he wants to call her something starting with a ‘K.’

I really liked the name Peyton for you, until I paired it with your last name. Peyton Pitzner is a bit too cutesy for me, but if you like alliteration, that would be a great choice!

    Other options:
    Sawyer
    Lane (Lainey)
    Auden
    Erin
    Brooke
    Sutton
    Rory
    Jordyn
    Aubrey

I love Eden on it’s own and also with Kinley. Jade is another name that works well on it’s own and with Kinley. I think Sloane, mentioned above, is also an excellent choice.

Personally, I would avoid another K name but I did like Kyle as an alternative Kylie. Another possibility if your husband wants another K name is Kendra.

I would also avoid another name ending in the -Lee sound as well. For me, that would rule Blakely and Paisley at hey seem rather rhymy with Kinley. I go like the suggestion of Rory.

Brynn is another possibility. Good luck.

Since he has Kamryn on his list, maybe Cameron? It sounds similar and is a unisex spelling which might appeal more to you. My favorite unisex name is Taylor, though I realize it’s kind of 10-15 years ago.

Kinley Reese is such a lovely name!

Love the suggestions of Sloane, Leighton and Skylar too.

I’d also like to suggest Adair, one of my all time favorites, Cambrie, Perrie and Hayden.

Hayden Claire, Leighton Kate or Skylar Drew perhaps?

    All the best!

Darn! Looks like I’m too late…you’re probably in labor now, with a name all picked out. But if you’re still considering, I wanted to suggest Ellison (Ellyson, Ellisyn, etc.). Nickname Ellie. also, what about Lennon? My favorite suggestion I’ve seen so far has been Harper…I think it’s perfect with Kinley.

    Good luck with everything today!

    Brynn or Bryn, for me.

    Brynn Ellery

    Brynn Romilly

    Good luck today!

Brooke Presley would be nice; or Camden Presley-both go well with Kinsley. I find I don’t care for names ending in ‘er’ or ‘ar’ with your last name ending in ‘er’. Good luck!

Do you like Jessamyn or Jessamine? I think it is really darling, not too girly, and has loads of cute nicknames if you’re into that (Jess, Jessie, Jessa, Minnie…)

    I also thought of:

    Bryony or Briony
    Sydney
    Harper
    Hadley
    Jules
    Jude
    Eden
    Eve
    Evelyn
    Jocelyn
Piper (a bit alliterative w/ your surname but in a way that I like)

Good luck!!! And please, please update us!

I don’t THINK anyone’s already suggested any of these that occurred to me: Marlowe, Bryony, Averil (somehow I love this so much more than the spelling Avril), Linden, London (or other place names you like… tend to have a slightly unisex feel to them), Sierra, Morgan, Taryn, Tegan, Shawn. Some of these are a bit older, but I get the sense that your husband likes names he is familiar with from the 80’s/90’s.

    I’d suggest:
    Harper
    Harlow
    Piper
    Brinley
    Shay
    Sawyer
    Hayden
    Jayden
    Jasper
    Shiloh
    Robin
    Toby

Or a good compromise might be a feminine name with a unisex/boyish nickname:
    Samantha/Sam
    Aurora/Rory
    Georgia/Georgie
    Alexandra/Alex
    Josephine/Jo
    …you get the idea!

I think Kinley sounds more girl than the names on your current list, which all sound very boy to me. I suspect your husband would likely go for something less boy/more unisex.

I will suggest (or 2nd) Avery, Rory, Greer, Harper, Bailey, Darcy, Hollis, Delaney Emery, & Macy.

My first thought was Darcy. What about Daphne? My husband actually mentioned the name Dylan for a girl but I have a boy cousin named that so I vetoed that myself. Just had a friend name her baby girl Elliot. What about Ainsley? Andralie. Andi is cute for a girl.

If your husband isn’t into masculine names, maybe unisex or names with masculine feel would be a good middle ground?

    Kinley and Marlowe
    Kinley and Charlie
    Kinley and Bronte
    Kinley and Sidney
    Kinley and Frankie
    Kinley and Noa
    Kinley and Delphi
    Kinley and Adair
