Baby Girl Newsome

Jennie writes:

Our baby needs a name and we are having a hard time making a final decision. Please help us Swistle! The last name is Newsome and a possible choice for a middle name is Leigh (we are open to suggestions for the middle name). The three choices my husband and I have narrowed it down to are: Kaelyn, Hailey/Haley, or Aubrey. Also, I like the name Allie. :) Thank you for your help Swistle!

My favorite is Aubrey. But I’m also very influenced by recently hearing the cutest nickname ever for the name Haley: Halo.

Let’s find out what everyone else likes best! To the poll! (To the right!) [Poll closed; see below.]

Poll results (287 votes total):
Aubrey: 180 votes, roughly 63%
Hailey/Haley: 86 votes, roughly 30%
Kaelyn: 21 votes, roughly 7%

I like Haley a lot. I know a little girl named Haley who is just adorable, and when she introduces herself, inevitably that person will stop to comment on what a pretty name she has.

That said, Haley Leigh sounds too redundant. Haley Leighann maybe? I like Haley Kay personally :)

I like Hailey, with that spelling. Middle name could be absolutely anything in the world. I like Jane, but you could also go longer/more unusal: Hailey Jessamine, Hailey Elizabeth, Hailey Kaitlyn, Hailey Jordan, etc. etc.

I like Aubrey and Haley best. Kaelyn is cute but I think down the road it will sound trendy…Aubrey and Haley have the same upbeat feel but seem more classic. I have to agree that Leigh doesn’t fit with Haley (Halee-lee) and even Aubrey Leigh is a bit rhyme-y.

What about another mn with one syllable? I like Aubrey Kate, Aubrey Laine or Aubrey Mae and Haley Claire.

I voted for Aubrey but agree with the opinion that both Aubrey Leigh or Hailey Leigh are too repetitive sounding with the “ee” sound at the end of each name. How about Aubrey Kaelyn, to use two of your top choices?

Aubrey is my absolute favorite! I wanted to use it for our baby, but my husband didn’t like it at all… so it definitely gets my vote! Good luck to you!! :)

I also thought of Alyssa nn Allie. Not a big fan of Kaelyn, I prefer Katelyn. But, Hailey is my favorite since that is my daughter’s name! I also agree, Leigh is not good with Hailey. My daughter’s middle name is Reese. Love the unisex middle names; Reese, Rae, Ryan, Drew…..

Back when I was in my late 20’s and had been with my husband a few years and thought I’d be having a baby soon (I just turned 40), I was IN LOVE with the name Haley (or Haleigh) and thought, this is it. Then the world went forward and everyone I knew had babies except me and all of a sudden I was robbed of Haley.
All that to say Haley, I will always vote for Haley.
