Baby Girl or Boy -enhouse, Sibling to Nolan and Nora

Hi there,

Thanks for your awesome blog. Been reading it religiously lately it seems!

We are 6 weeks away from meeting our new babe and are struggling bad with a girls name. We are set on a boys name (Knox Warren) grandfather is Warren. For big sibs Nolan James and Nora Mae. Everyone keeps asking if we are going with another N which I don’t really think necessary at all, but more importantly would like it to flow with Nolan and Nora. Any thoughts would be truly appreciated! Last name ends in -enhouse.
Thank you!

Possibilities starting with N:

Nolan, Nora, and Nadia
Nolan, Nora, and Naomi
Nolan, Nora, and Nell
Nolan, Nora, and Nina
Nolan, Nora, and Noelle

Possibilities containing an N but not starting with N:

Nolan, Nora, and Fiona
Nolan, Nora, and Hannah
Nolan, Nora, and June
Nolan, Nora, and Lillian
Nolan, Nora, and Lina
Nolan, Nora, and Linnea
Nolan, Nora, and Maren
Nolan, Nora, and Simone

Other possibilities:

Nolan, Nora, and Alice
Nolan, Nora, and Celia
Nolan, Nora, and Claire
Nolan, Nora, and Claudia
Nolan, Nora, and Delia
Nolan, Nora, and Eliza
Nolan, Nora, and Eva
Nolan, Nora, and Greta
Nolan, Nora, and Iris
Nolan, Nora, and Lydia
Nolan, Nora, and Molly
Nolan, Nora, and Polly
Nolan, Nora, and Rose
Nolan, Nora, and Ruby
Nolan, Nora, and Stella
Nolan, Nora, and Willa

I would be considerably swayed by the possibility of future children. That is, if you’re stopping at three, then I would be likely vote for one of the N- names. But if you’re planning to have more than three children, I would be more likely to vote for taking this opportunity to veer off the N- path before it starts to feel like being painted into a corner.

I have a Nolan James too! And I love the name Knox. So I’m going to give you my girl list: Isla, Sloane, Maeve, and Evelyn. Good luck and can’t wait to hear what you choose!

Evelyn seems particularly lovely in this set. Not sure what it is but I like it with both Nolan and Nora and even more all together.

Your choice of the name Knox hints that you really do want the N sound, you just aren’t sure that you want the letter. I say go for it. You might consider Noelle/ Noel given that this will be a Christmas baby.

Came here to say the same thing… Knox is basically an “N” name as it is :)

It almost bothers me that it doesn’t start with an N, but is posing as one!

I also think that you should go with another n-name. Nolan and Nora are both great names but they seem very matching (are the kids twins by any chance?) and a totally different name would really stand out among the siblings. I love Swistle’s suggestions, particularly Nina and Noelle. I would also add Noemi and Nadine as a possible alternatives for Naomi and Nadia. And what about Natasha or Natalie? Or maybe Neve? But if you decide to drop the n-trend, my vote goes for Fiona.
BTW, Knox, with that hidden n-sound, is a very clever idea with your sibset!

I like a three syllable n name with this set…

    Nolan, Nora and Nicola
    Nolan, Nora and Natalia

    Or mirror the ‘r’

    Nolan, Nora and Romy
    Nolan, Nora and Freya
Nolan, Nora and Frances (that’s got the n and r!)

I especially like Fiona. I wonder if Anna, with it’s strong “n” presence would be a nice fit.
For “N” names for girls, I like Nadine. And I know you aren’t looking for boy suggestions, but I like Nash as well.

I really like Hannah with these sibling names. Some names with -n- I thought could work:

    Diana
    Corinne
    Haven
    June
    Jenna
    Luna
    Zinnia
    Jane
    Joan
    Wren
    Savannah

If you’re going to break from N, I like Fiona. Keeps the strong N sound, but gives you future flexibility. Plus sisters Nora and Fiona. Swoon

Nolan and Nora are what I consider Irish names. Maybe you’d like Niamh / Neve?

I love Noelle or Naomi with this sibset.

Fiona and Eloise are also great suggestions.

    What about Nell/Nelle?

    Nolan, Nora and Nelle. Love!

    Good Luck!

So I know two ladies named Knox – why not use it for a girl? You love the name, it can be for a boy or a girl, done!

Celia was my first thought and one that Swistle mentioned. Two others from her list I liked: Maren and Simone.

Honor? I like the idea of moving away from an ‘n’ first letter, but keeping an ‘n’ and ‘o’ in the name. I like Juno, Ione, Lennox and Simone, suggested by other posters.

Oh, I really like it! Fiona was my favorite for a non-n-name, but I like Honor even better. Nolan, Nora and Honor sound great together and the lack of a third n-name is hardly noticable!

I was thinking about how you have the long o sound along with the n sound in both your kids names, and Swistle’s suggestion of Simone just really captures that, along with Ione, Fiona, and Juno.
